Community Guidelines

These are the rules for what may be hosted here. They are part of the Terms of Use, and they follow rule 3(1)(b) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. Each rule is quoted, then said plainly.

The one that matters most here

Upload photographs of yourself only. Do not upload a photograph of another person, and do not generate an image of anyone else’s body. If you find an image of yourself here that you did not authorise, report it and we take it down within two hours — see below. You do not need an account to do that.

Do not host, display, upload, publish or share anything that

1. belongs to another person and to which the user does not have any rightDo not post someone else's photographs, artwork or writing as your own. That includes uploading a photograph of another person as your selfie.
2. is obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, invasive of another's privacy including bodily privacy, insulting or harassing on the basis of gender, racially or ethnically objectionable, relating to or encouraging money laundering or gambling, or an online game that causes user harm, or promoting enmity between groups on the grounds of religion or caste with the intent to incite violenceNothing sexual, nothing that degrades a person's body or identity, nothing that targets a group. Bodily privacy is the one that matters most here: generating an image of a real person's body without their consent falls under this clause and is removed on the fastest clock we run.
3. is harmful to childNothing involving a minor. Accounts are for adults only.
4. infringes any patent, trademark, copyright or other proprietary rightsMerchant product photography belongs to the merchant. Adding a garment to your own fitting room is not the same as republishing a shop's catalogue.
5. deceives or misleads the addressee about the origin of the message or knowingly and intentionally communicates any misinformation or information which is patently false and untrue or misleading in natureDo not pass a generated image off as an unedited photograph of a real event, and do not misrepresent who you are or where something came from.
6. impersonates another personDo not present yourself as somebody else, and do not build an account made to look like theirs.
7. threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign States, or public order, or causes incitement to the commission of any cognisable offence, or prevents investigation of any offence, or is insulting other nationNothing that incites an offence or obstructs an investigation.
8. contains software virus or any other computer code, file or program designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer resourceNo malicious links or files.
9. is in the nature of an online game that is not verified as a permissible online gameNot something this service does, and listed because the rule lists it.
10. is in the nature of advertisement or surrogate advertisement or promotion of an online game that is not a permissible online game, or of any online gaming intermediary offering such an online gameNo gambling or real-money-gaming promotion.
11. violates any law for the time being in forceAnything else Indian law prohibits.

Reporting

Signed in, use the report control on any look or comment. Without an account — which is most people who find an image of themselves — use the grievance page. An account is not a condition of having something removed.

How fast we act

What happens after

• We tell the person who reported it what we did, and why.
• We tell the person whose content it was, and they can contest it.
• If our decision does not satisfy you, you can appeal to the Grievance Appellate Committee constituted under rule 3A of the same Rules, within 30 days of that decision.
